During the tunneling process of the electron in a potential
barrier, the amplitude of the wave function evanescently decays in
the potential barrier in the case of the non-relativistic electron
(Fig. 4).
In contrast, the relativistic electron in the graphene which is
vertically injected can transmit the barrier without any decay (Klein
tunneling).
Our group is trying to detect the Klein tunneling experimentally
using the pn junction in the graphene (Fig. 6).
This system is theoretically predicted to behave as metamaterial
for electrons. We are trying to detect this phenomenon.
